This week I haven't been doing much work on my 3D projects in school or out of school due to AP exams starting next week and on Monday, May 7th, at 8:00 am I have my AP Chemistry exam and I have prioritized my time on working on a review lab that is worth triple the amount of our normal labs and studying for the exam. Hopefully this weekend if I find time to sketch out more of the furniture I want to put into my apartment scene and how I am going to do the environmental lighting within the scene. This weekend I will also be going to see Avengers: Infinity War with some friends which I am very excited about. Also this week had nation admission day for college and I am proud to say that I will be attending the University of North Carolina Asheville in the Fall of 2018 in the hopes of studying chemistry.

This week I haven't been able to do much work do to I was out on Monday due to a stomach virus and spent Tuesday writing the blog post for last week. Yesterday I had creative block and browsed YouTube and watch tutorials for Adobe Illustrator for logo design and character design. I have started to look into the future because I want to also become certified in other programs than 3D Studio Max and we have Friday off due to Veteran's Day. Next week though I hope to finish up the animation and lighting and have that posted by the beginning of the week that follows. Next Weeks Goals:
-Work on animation and cameras -Make candle light Today I got to visit UNC G's campus. The tour was an average tour giving general information about the campus and the facilities on campus. UNC G offered a lot of outside of class help from there professors and even certain program taught by students who did well in a class to provide even more help for the students. I also got the chance to visit the chemistry labs and lecture halls. I like UNC G's campus size and the community feeling that all of the professors and student created allowing for a positive area in which to grow and learn.
ECGC is the East Coast Game Conference where members of the industry come together and talk and have informative talks about the game industry as a whole and how to get started or become a part of the industry and for indie game companies to show off games they are making and to highlight new technologies. ECGC was fun overall and had lots of good information about the game industry and meeting cool people who are a part of the industry like John Romero who worked on games like Quake and Doom. ECGC also opened up my eyes to the different types of people who work in the game industry both large and small and help give a scope of they types of work and amount of work is required to produce a game. ECGC had few downsides to it mainly being the majority of the talks that were available were of not much interest to me, but with the talks, I did go to I enjoyed thoroughly. "Selling Invisible Fun" was my favorite talk I went to and it discussed the ends and outs how to pitch your game to a company to help fund your ideas. I enjoy public speaking and persuading people to believe how I feel to back me what I like to do and this is why this talk interested me so much. The main takeaway points from the talk were that you need to have a good hook so you can make your game idea stand out from all the other game ideas and you need show why you and your team an able to do the job with the financial assistance of the publisher. Also knowing how to take problems that you might face in the development process and come forward with your concerns to show that you care about the project and want to do the best you can and not hide your problems, but while still heaving a strong idea that separates your idea for others. Before the talk I got to talk to the guy sitting next to me who was an indie developer himself who didn't look any older than a high school student and was very adamant about the game industry and how he wanted to be able to pitch this game idea that he and some friends were messing around within Unity. I enjoy all types of games both physical like sports and board games and digital like video games, but I don't feel like I would be a good fit in the game industry honestly I didn't really enjoy many of the types of people I was at ECGC and it those types of people who work in the Game industry I wouldn't work well with them and I don't want to be the person on a team that holds production back so most likely I will be trying to get another type of job involving computers because how much I love doing that stuff.
So on the 10-13th of April, I was able to go to CISCO and enter there and see what types of jobs and opportunity CISCO had to offer through the scholars at work program. Being able to see a large company and able to experience it where to separate things. When you hear about companies being very open and having a good work environment I have never fully trusted what they said but when I went to CISCO everyone was very kind and happy to be at work and they always called work fun and how they enjoyed coming in every day and doing something they loved and referring to coworkers as friends which made for a very kind and friendly atmosphere. The idea that CISCO allows for growth not only up in payroll but if you also want to do something else you can try out something new within the country really promoting a good work environment and allowing people to enjoy their job.
Last week I heard back about my internship with Cisco and they accepted me. I will be having a 4 day internship with them during spring break and hope to gain a lot of valuable information about the company and what job opportunities they have. For when in the future if i'm applying for jobs they could be a possible company that I apply to.
This past week were given an option to put in an application for a internship where we would work for four days over spring break with CISCO, the EPA, and a local pharmaceutical company. This would be could experience for me that I can put on a resume or college applications for next year. Also I think I could get a lot out of an experience like this allowing me to see inside these fields of work and see if any of them interest me and see possible job opportunities using the skills I have learned in Game Design.
Over the past week we started to do work in class so we started the year off with an infographic. Which was about a career within the game design industry and I chose Audio Engineer which is a career that has always interested me because of my love of music and sounds. Part of the infographic was that he had to do research on the career and for me I learned some good news that Audio Engineers are becoming more indemand and are projected to grow as an industry until 2020. Also that I would have to learn how to use specific programs used for manipulating sounds and music. The only difference this research has changed my opinion on Audio Enginner is that I'll have to learn more about these programs that are used in the industry.
