Over the past week I have started to work on the room for the animation and some of the models that are present in the scene as parts of the animation. I was able to make the candle holder which the candle that burns and illuminates part of the room should occupy. The challenges I faced this week were related with lighting and 3ds crashing, but was able to fix my lighting problems by changing what unit was being used to measure the intensity of the light that is being produced. This allows for more accurate representation of different types of light bulbs that might be used throughout a house. I fixed the crashes I was experiencing at home by updating 3ds. Next Weeks Goals:
-Finish animation -Learn how to make fire effects -learn how to manipulate light to mimic fire effects

Warframe is a free to play game by Digital Extremes. Warframe is a third-person action shooter than can be played alone or co-op where you play as a Tenno who controls a Warframe to complete a variety of missions and against a plethora of enemies. Over the past few weeks me and my friends have gotten back into Warframe due to the largest update ever released for Warframe came out. The update added lots of new content to farm for as well as an open world level with daily missions to farm for a new reputation faction. Also the the new update came a rework to the "focus" system allowing players to easily upgrade their focus. Warframe is fun for me in the since that I can play a few missions or do a few dailies in a under a hour allowing time for homework and other school related projects. Also the free to play aspect of the game allows for everyone to have a chance at playing the game and even though there is a large amount of in-game purchases available you can either farm for or trade for everything in the game except cosmetics allowing for a true free to play experience.
Today I got to visit UNC G's campus. The tour was an average tour giving general information about the campus and the facilities on campus. UNC G offered a lot of outside of class help from there professors and even certain program taught by students who did well in a class to provide even more help for the students. I also got the chance to visit the chemistry labs and lecture halls. I like UNC G's campus size and the community feeling that all of the professors and student created allowing for a positive area in which to grow and learn.
This week I was able to start Animation that I have been talking about for the past 3 weeks because I have learned everything I wanted to learn for the animation. This week I started modeling a simple room where the animation will happen and set up a lighting system for the room. The animation will be a candle melting in a room with the wax dripping and the wick on fire and disintegrating with a small smoke effect if I have time to add to the animation. The problems I ran into this week we time loss with today in class having a representative from Full Sail University talking to the class, which is why there isn't a photo of my progress this week. Also on Tuesday I went in and talked to my counselor. Next Weeks Goals:
-Work on Animation -Set up cameras -Model Candle -Start the animating process This week I worked on the of the most important parts of any render or animation. The lighting within the scene, normally the lighting in a scene is boring with just at standard light that can't be manipulated or moved. I used a Photometric Light which allows me to change the all of it's components for example I changed the type of light that was being emitted in my scene to appear as like a fluorescent light and changed its area of dispersion or where the light will be projected. The challenges I ran into this week were making the light not completely white out the scene because of how intense the light is. To fix this all I had to do was change the intensity to 5% and move the light further away from the scene. Next Weeks Goals:
-Start complex animation -Model the skull for animation The week of October 2nd I was trying to finish the animation with a particle skinner modifier to give the effect of a model disintegrating and inevitable use in a larger animation that takes the particle skinner modifier, and the particle view editor. How I have learned how to use the particle skinner modifier, but when coming closer to the end of the animation I added a data cache modifier to the particle view within the animation, but this caused the file to not be able to open, so I wasn't able to finish the animation. I moved onto lighting because in the past lighting has been a struggle for me and good lighting adds another level of depth to the model and render. However, the lighting has also given me some trouble as well with the light being too bright and making the whole rendered scene become white. Hopefully, after some more editing with the light source, I can make the scene more visible. Next Weeks Goals:
-Finish the Lighting scene -Start on the modeling for the complex animation |
