Over my Thanksgiving break I have started to look into the production of audio more watching videos by Genius a company and website that breaks down lyrics of song but also has done this video series on the deconstruction of the beats used in hip-hop and rap songs. Being able to see the process that these audio engineers went through; though at a every simple level, is very cool seeing their though process and the progression of each beat and how that beat makes a song remembered or not or what type of vibe or feeling the song want to portray and that ability of being able to make people feel a certain way without any voices only pure sounds is very cool and fascinating to me and I hope to explore this more often in the future even though I am not musical educated and only play the violin sub-parley I feel the software is access able to people because we all know what we want in a song and the only obstacle from that is use making it.

It's that time of year again when teachers start to make recommendations for what classes they would like to take next year. For my AGAD class to get recommended for next years course which is an independent study we had to come up with a plan for next year so I came up with the plan of taking the ACU. The ACU is the Autodesk Certified User which is a test that would allow me to become certified in using 3D Studio max. This is something I could put on a resume for college or for a job application. The hope is to be able to take two tests next year the ACU and the ACA but the timeline appears very tight so it would be hard to fit the ACA into the timeline. The ACA, by the way, is the Adobe Certified Associate which is something you can get in Photoshop which is the part of the ACA test I would take because there are ACAs for other programs in the Adobe Suite.
There are two major forms of editing: liner and non-linear editing. Over the past few weeks, I have been working in Adobe Audition and Premiere which are both examples of non-linear editing systems. A non-linear editing system refers to how audio and video is able to be cut into any order at anytime, this is how modern movies and music are edited. A liner editing system would be like how with movies shot on film reels and you could cut the reels together but you couldn't easily make any shot available at any time without making a lot of edits to the reel which was time-consuming and expensive. Learning how to understand non-linear editing systems are the important skill to learn for game design because having an understanding of editing and how the process works in necessary for jobs like animation. Another form of editing is live editing where you would have a live show with multiple camera angles set up and you can cut from camera to camera. This form of editing is used on live shows like the news or other live shows. I enjoy audio editing more than video editing because I enjoy looking at a video that is already cut and edited but all you have to do is add sounds to make the video come to life.
With this year we are learning two new programs Adobe Audition and Premiere. I enjoy using Audition and picked up how to use it very quickly helping me feel confident in pursuing Audio Engineering, but Premiere has been a little harder for me to learn because of how Premiere is laid out and you having to manage four different workspaces at one time is hard for me to manage at the moment. These programs are helpful for me to know how to use to use because audio and video editing is a something I could put on my resume show jobs that I can use these programs proficiently, but looking more short term I could use them to show off some of my art, models and animations in a cool video with sound or i could make a time lapse of me making a piece of art to show the process of how I make art.
