For the past few weeks we have been learning how to use Adobe Audition and Adobe Premiere. The project we have been working on recently has used skills from both audio and video editing to become foley artists to make our own audio, then edit it and add it into a video. The easiest part about this process is establishing what pieces of audio I needed and where to put them because I was able to watch the animation we were giving and make time stamps with a description of the sound I wanted to make to put there. The most difficult part about this process is the actual production of the audio because we don't have a full foley room set up we have be creative with how be make our audio and also having a room that is quite is surprisingly hard as well. Some small decisions I have to make are those of how loud I want the audio to be or if the extra sounds picked up by the mic when recording the audio has to be edited out. Also for the video we had to find some background music and because the animation is a sniper video I chose a song that had a slow but dramatic build up while still being quite allowing you to hear the audio of the video. I have felt I have grown as a foley artist because I am beginning to learn how to take a piece of audio that is close to the sound I want and make it the exact sound I want to hear.

There are two major forms of editing: liner and non-linear editing. Over the past few weeks, I have been working in Adobe Audition and Premiere which are both examples of non-linear editing systems. A non-linear editing system refers to how audio and video is able to be cut into any order at anytime, this is how modern movies and music are edited. A liner editing system would be like how with movies shot on film reels and you could cut the reels together but you couldn't easily make any shot available at any time without making a lot of edits to the reel which was time-consuming and expensive. Learning how to understand non-linear editing systems are the important skill to learn for game design because having an understanding of editing and how the process works in necessary for jobs like animation. Another form of editing is live editing where you would have a live show with multiple camera angles set up and you can cut from camera to camera. This form of editing is used on live shows like the news or other live shows. I enjoy audio editing more than video editing because I enjoy looking at a video that is already cut and edited but all you have to do is add sounds to make the video come to life.
