This semester I want to focus on the MassFX engine in 3ds Max and the first way I want to start in it is by using the basic tools within the MassFX engine with rigid body modifiers but also with the Flex modifier which allows for realistic physics simulations of jello like objects so this week I focused on making a realistic cube of jello fall but keep its overall shape and in the hopes with fully understanding the Flex modifier being able to add it to more complex shapes to make better looking models and maybe use it to make an object fall apart.

So this week I learned that 3ds Max is not backwards compatible from one version to another, so I was unable to make any changes to the Acetyl-CoA model due to me trying to work on it at home to get ahead and fix a small problem, but then realized when I got back to school I couldn't work on it. Which was the major problem I ran into this week but also when I was showing my AP Chem teacher a render of the model she told me that some of my bond angles where off so i have to fix those before the model can be considered finished. Next Weeks Goal:
-Finish up Acetyl-CoA model out of school -Work in physics engine for 3rd quarter projects Today I had the chance to go an talk to the 8th graders in 2 science classes about the Game Design Pathway. This is important because at DSA middle school students do not get any exposure to any digital arts during their middle school electives so we went to them and gave our pitch. It was great because I was able to talk to a group of kids about something that I am passionate about and would encourage others to try out the Pathway. Also one of the big things that we liked to stress is the fact of yes it is the "game design" pathway but you don't have to go into games for the skills and tools you learn in the classes. For example I really enjoy playing games but would never see myself making a game due to how complicated it can be and all of the pressure of deadlines and all of the other factors that can cause large amounts of stress. Rather I would like to take the elements of design that I have learned and take these concepts to other fields like science or chemistry and apply my knowledge there.
Well this week we only had 2 days of school due to there being no school on both Thursday and Friday due to snow and cold weather. So subsequently I go little work done due to my limited time available to me at school. However I did fix one of my problems in relation to position of each atom by making a sort of star like shape that I can to align within a sphere to, so I can have a more accurate model. Hopefully I will be able to finish the rest of the model this week now that the weather has cleared up so we can go to school because in the south if there is ever a mere mention of snow the schools will shut down. Next Weeks Goals:
-Finish the Acetyl-CoA Model -Make some models for portfolio |
